Wonderful staff. Very clean. Compassionate & kind Aides, RNs & LPNS. The Physical Therapy personnel went above & beyond also. Everyone connected with patient care from Medical staff, Housekeeping, Social Workers, Engineering, Beauticians & Dietary were patient care focused. Don't want to return, but if I needed Skilled nursing care would not hesitate to ask for the Ark in Dwight. The wound Care nurses were phenomenal! This note of gratitude is very late in coming. I am home due to The Ark. I am very grateful for the care. If I have forgotten any of the service people I apologize. Remember I am 88 years old & the mind isn't as sharp as it once was! A very satisfied and grateful patient who was a guest for 3 months. Cheri Harvey(retired R.N., we are the worst patients)
As far as nursing homes go this place is great! Like another reviewer said, it didn't get a 5 star because of their kitchen department. I have an aunt who has been there a couple years now. When she got their the kitchen was fabulous, but now it's mediocre. The activities department deserves 10 stars! They do an amazing job at keeping the residents busy with lots of great activities and outings! The care of the residents is 5 star. They are attentive and patient.
It is my sincere pleasure to share my heartfelt gratitude to Rita and her entire staff at Arc at Dwight (formerly Heritage Health) for the phenomenal care they have given my family members! The name has changed but all of the professional, caring staff remains! The facility itself is very clean. There is a large gathering room with a fireplace as you enter the building, which gives you more of a “homelike” comfortable feeling. Everyone you see will give you a smile & offer their assistance! The nurses & aides are all so wonderful & caring. Residents are kept very busy with lots of activities. They are very attentive to residents individual likes & interests! My cousin resided here for five years until her passing. My mother-in-law has been here for rehab, and my father-in-law is now a resident. I have been telling every family I know for years this is the place for your loved ones for the very best care! I will continue to do so because 3 years later my father-in-law is getting the very same 5 star care! Thank you all very much! Susie N.
1/13/25 update: our mom passed away last week and we took shifts to stay with her 24/7. The nursing staff continued to be amazing, so caring until the end. we will forever be grateful. 💔 Our mom was admitted to Arc in November 2024. She had serious health issues which caused her to need 24/7 care. When she first arrived, there was a delay in her medication order and some confusion because her meds had recently been changed, but it was worked out the next day. The staff at Arc has been really wonderful to her - and us. I live in another state, so I don’t know all of her compassionate caregivers, but RN’s Allie, Annie and Cindy and CNAs Linda and Samantha are amazing. Lisa, the activities director, went out of her way to start a bookclub with the Dwight Library because my mom belonged to the book club there. They offer lots of fun and engaging activities for the residents. The reason for 4 stars is the nutrition dept. The meal process is chaos. Although my mom can no longer go to the cafeteria, she used to enjoy sitting with other folks for her meals. The “ticket” system is a nightmare and she often had to wait 30-60 minutes for her food. Also, as a cardiac patient, her “no salt added” diet should not have consisted of biscuits and gravy, turkey sausage, chili dogs, meatball sandwiches and a variety of other high sodium foods. This salty diet caused an escalation of her disease. Although admitting a loved one to a nursing home is never an easy decision, we are very happy with the quality of care at Arc of Dwight.
We had to place my father in this nursing home for rehab. Not many people want to be in the nursing home, including him. Not many family members would like to send their loved ones to a nursing home either. It has been a very hard decision and transition in everyone involved. I can’t say enough about the teamwork of this staff. Not only do they work together but they work with the residents families. The staff here at this facility have been excellent. Everyone seems caring and kind. The physical therapy department has been wonderful. I am impressed with them as well. Activity coordinator is doing a great job. Cafeteria staff have been great too. Housekeepers really work hard to keep it clean. I have not had a bad experience at this facility. The reason I give 4 stars vs.5 is this. May I suggest having a physician visit more often and a little more flavorful food. I’m sure there’s a fine line between how much sodium, sugar, etc. different patients can have that may factor into this. Recently Heritage Health was acquired by Arcadia. However, it’s still the staff, same great care. Keep up the good work. I don’t regret placing my family member in this facility.
