Put cameras and document everything. Big turn over, just a handful of good staff. Administration not good. Moved my loved one and they had excellent care at new facility.
The Nursing Staff was nice, but the Administration has a lot to be desired. They are lacking in Compassion for both the Resident and their family 1) A call to say that they will not take your Loved One, is not a courtesy call, but a required phone call, as is giving a reason why they will not take your Loved One- you cannot just shatter a persons world and not feel they are entitled to a reason - and you definitely do not hang up on a person asking you questions. If you cannot handle a person being upset when you have given devastating news, then you are the wrong person for the job working in the administration department of a Rehabilitation center
Today was the first day entering the facility. It is extremely clean, you can still smell the new materials used to construct and furnish the facility. Yes the staff is extremely polite, some more than others though I still have the impression of it all being a requirement rather a genuine nature. Being a nurse myself who has been trained in such facilities until residents of any facility are applauding their caregivers I will not ever believe that such residents are happy and comfortable. I have witnessed residents fearing to express either their true impressions of such staff out of fear of retaliation or reprisal either in confrontation, care, or necessities, and when everyone else believe that you are not about your wits is a further degrading of the residents who are the direct cause of nurses and others being able to have a job. As a residential care manager, my facility would most likely not be licensed due to the restrict requirements for residents to be allowed into such residencies. My loving care home would accept the residents and their pets who are friendly with other animals, for those who do not care for animals would reside in a separated home from those who did care for pets or animals with that being say the residency would be a farm for those residents who would enjoy feeding chickens, ducks, and such. My idea of a caring residential facility would be as closed as possible to to the residents end lifestyle for their wellbeing and health, since residential care for another should not become so restrictive that the residents feel more like prisoners then human beings needing supportive care. I only hope that my trials, endeavors, and intent will allow me to fulfill this dream for those who need such care before their transition.
