Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
The Aide provides the patient with personal care assistance and home support in an effort to maintain a clean, safe environment for the elderly or convalescing patient, thus allowing them to remain in their own home.
Qualifications:
- Completion of the 9th Grade; Prefer High School Graduate.
- Able to understand both written and oral directions and instructions
- Capable of understanding and handling interpersonal relationships
- Complete a skills competency test
- Completion of approved training program consistent with state and federal requirements for which a certification was obtained.
- (1) One year of experience in home health care preferred
- Driver’s license preferred but not required
Job Responsibilities:
- Works under the written instruction for the client’s care prepared by the Visiting
Nurse and/or Therapist based on the Physician’s Plan of Treatment.
- Provide assistance with personal care and activities of daily living
- Provide assistance with nutritional needs/preparing food
- Provide home support with household chores
- Assists with pre-poured medications which are ordinarily self-administered.
- Provide assistance with specialized procedures as instructed.
- Report changes in client’s condition and needs as appropriate
- Complete (12) twelve hours of in-service programs yearly
