Caregiver at Green Hills Assisted Living, LLC

The Green Hills Assisted Living (GHAL) home in Palmer, Alaska is looking to hire in-home patient caregivers. These positions will provide care to those adults aged 18 and older who have physical disabilities, are elderly or suffer from dementia but who are not diagnosed as chronically mental ill. Positions will involve teaching client’s self-care skills and assist them with daily tasks such as cooking meals, doing laundry, maintaining a clean and safe environment, etc. Other job responsibilities include: • Assisting residents with personal care tasks such as personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, toileting, medical monitoring and other health care related tasks. • Perform home functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and washing dishes. • Answer house phone calls and ensure professional communication with the administrator, licensing agencies, care coordinators, guardians, medical professionals and others who contact GHAL. • Ensure residents safety and maintain a safe home environment. • Report any instances of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation. • Report changes to residents’ condition to the Administrator. • Document administration of any controlled substance medications via applicable forms. • Remind and assist residents with self-administration of medications (with proper training). • Assist in planning and documenting meals, prepare and serve food/meals, assist with feeding (if required), and clean-up. • Encourage self-help activities. • Foster positive relationships between caretakers and residents served. • Other duties as assigned. The following requirements are needed from all potential caregivers: • Be at least 18 years of age. • Current CPR and First Aid Training. • Proof of current negative TB Test. • Ability to pass a State of Alaska Background Check. • Ability to handle the physical aspects of the job including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and walking for periods of time. • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to GHAL. • Willing to be on call to assist with any coverage needs. • Both males and females are encouraged to apply.
