More like HORRORSTORY brook! I am disappointed that I couldn't leave a negative number of stars! There are 2 nurses there that seem to genuinely care and are trying to make a difference. The rest of the staff is punching the clock while holding their nose. The nursing-home-old-urine smell is overwhelming. My mother had bruises all over her forearm "from where they moved me. They were kind of rough." The other arm has a skin tear that was treated with an old bandaid. No one even tried to approximate the skin and evidently they've never heard of steri-strips. Oh yes, I have pictures! I was assured by 3 people (1 being a Care Manager at PAM Rehab in Greeley where she was sent from) as well as 2 members of Horrorstory's management team that they had new owners, had really turned it around, and that their Medicare Star (a 2 out of 5) rating was from before their changes and not at all indicative of their current level of care. At this point, the only action that will improve the care there, would be a bulldozer! If you have a loved one there, get them out!! Due to personal health issues, I could not go there to assess it before Mom was admitted. I took the word of 3 people who blatantly lied.
Prestige is now known as Storybrook care facility. We had read the awful reviews about Prestige, but our loved one's hospice providers explained to us that it was under new management and now known as Storybrook so we decided to give it a try. Our family's experience was awful! During the intake process we made it VERY clear that our loved one could not go without oxygen for even 5 minutes. Well, they left our loved one on a portable oxygen tank all day and when the oxygen ran out, she was in severe respiratory distress (oxygen in the 70's) for the remainder of the evening. Her sister called me later that evening and said she wasn't even sure our loved one was going to make it through the night! That was her FIRST night there. Eventually they got her oxygen up and stabilized and we gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake. 2 days later, upon visiting our loved one, she was sat alone in the dining room AGAIN on an empty oxygen tank!!! It took me several minutes to even find someone to help. The young lady I found, when the situation was explained, said " yeah, that tank was kind of low when I put it on her." WHAT?! Why would you put a low oxygen tank on a patient who had already experienced an oxygen crisis in your facility?! Luckily our loved one was only there for a short respite stay and we got as far away from that place as possible. We did initiate an investigation into their care practices where we were told that their records indicated that our loved one NEVER had an oxygen crisis and that her oxygen was consistently 98%. Ummm, our loved one had congestive heart failure and it was rare (if ever) that her oxygen was that high. And if she didn't have an oxygen crisis, why was her family at her bedside all evening preparing for the worst? I would never recommend this facility to anyone looking for a loving, attentive place for their elderly loved one. Disappointed is definitely an understatement. Bad enough that our loved one was treated like that, but then for your records to conveniently not document the events that transpired when there were MULTIPLE witnesses to the contrary... Shame on you, Storybrook!
My experience is different than the other reviews here. My mom has lived here almost 2 years. I am very happy with her quality of care. Her care team is excellent. They always show her love and compassion. This is the best place for my mom. I have 0 concerns about this establishment.
Your company has zero compassion, disrespectful, and inconsiderate. When my mother passed away; I was never notified by your facility. I was however notified by one of the local funeral homes that my mother was in their care. I am absolutely appalled. The billing department is equally as inconsiderate. One hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Very disorganized. I do not want to see this happen to anyone else's loved one.
Well after viewing this establishment… it’s held together with duct tape and bubble gum. It’s filthy on the inside. They lose your cloths for weeks at a time if they return. Continuity of care is a thing of the past. Every time you trust someone with your loved one the management team runs them off. The new management. Not the old management that all quit because of the horrendous. We policies in place. Trash can lids are held down with cinder clocks on the fireplace. Rodents and bugs are everywhere on the inside. It smells horrendous inside. It’s obvious to see how far down the facility went after the previous management left. Nobody is happy here. You can tell by their faces. A woman screams for help constantly to hear a blonde female nurse yell back to shut it. Pills are found scattered around rooms. Wounds are getting out of hand. The only response you’ll receive from the new DON is silence. The other manager runs off scared with her tail between her legs. Nothing will change here.
