I was transferred to Cedarwood Gardens from the hospital for rehab. Although the facility is in serious need of some updates, the Care I received was very good. The nurses and most of the aides were wonderful and took good care of me. I would suggest that the owner take better care of the staff and make some much needed updates! There is no central air conditioning in this facility. They do put air conditioners in the resident’s rooms, But there is insufficient air-conditioning in the common areas, which makes it impossible for the staff to be comfortable. They work very hard and deserve to have better air conditioning and an updated workplace!

My mother lived at this facility for 10 months. It was a very difficult time for her, but we had no other choices. Each time I visited, she told me she wanted to die. The facility is old and in bad condition. The staff, including the administrators, are very unprofessional and lack proper training. My mother was brought here with the promise that she would be moved closer to home as soon as a bed was open. We were told she was at the top of the list and that the Admissions Coordinator, Michelle, was regularly in touch with other facilities. When my mother was finally moved, thanks to my efforts, we discovered that this was not true. They checked on her transfer only once in 10 months. During her time there, she developed several infections and severe swelling in her legs, which the nursing staff did not assess correctly. Getting appropriate treatment for my mother was extremely difficult. The nursing staff, including the Nursing Director Jane, seemed inexperienced and lacked compassion; they were just there for a paycheck. The Administrator, Peter, and the billing person, Seetha, were equally ineffective. They failed to submit my mother's insurance documents on time, which delayed her health insurance coverage. Then they sent me a large bill for services and demanded immediate payment. When I explained that their delay caused these issues and that my mother could not afford this amount, I asked for help. They said they would assist me, but instead contacted a lawyer to threaten me because I am my mother's Power of Attorney. The food served was terrible! My dogs eat better than the residents. They changed food vendors at least four times while my mother was there. To make matters worse, my mother was given eight times her required amount of insulin by a nurse named Michelle. The nursing staff did not inform me of this serious mistake for two hours, and when I called to check on my mother, they refused to speak with me. Eventually, I had to call the Police Department and EMS to perform a well-being check on her. My mother was moved one week later after I personally contacted the facility and learned there were available beds. The administration never discussed transferring her to a closer facility. Please do not let your loved ones stay at this place. They will be neglected and could suffer serious consequences under the care of the nursing staff. DPH has also been contacted.

Our father (James Edwards) arrived at Cedarwood Gardens on 1/20/23. He was there for 2 weeks for a bad infection in his elbow. I would like to extend our gratitude to the staff for their exceptional care for our father's medical needs. Most especially our appreciate to Tiffany & Amanda for their compassion, kindness, caring & how empathetic they were in helping our father back to recovery. Thank you to them & the rest of the medical staff for what you do daily for our loved ones. 😍 Robin Edwards Van Valkenburg

This place is so unprofessional. The staff did not know what they’re doing, nice but does not know what they’re doing. My brother almost died here. If it was not for me being there and making sure they called 911 because he stop breathing he would've died. Even the Doctor at the hospital told me, if “you would've left him there 5 more minutes, he would've died.” The man Eric that was working that night, was outside smoking a cigarette while my brother was taken out on a stretcher and not breathing. He did not even ask me, is he ok or if we were ok (me and my aunt) He did not care at all what was going on. When he was suppose to be running the floor with another nurse Rachel. Rachel was the only one that knew what she was doing and was kind enough to call 911. She had to yell at all the staff and tell them he was not ok because all they kept saying “no he's ok, don't worry” also telling me that I was the cause of the reason he got the way he did. He was not ok when I got there and I kept telling them he needed to be suction out because of the secretion he was having. He was also on g-tube and nothing was connected for water and nutrition. I had to tell them what to do. If the hospital that transfer him over kinda gave him heads up on his condition days prior which by the way, they were not up for that type of patient, they were not qualified to take care of his needs. They handle patients who are more capable to do things on their own. They should've had everything ready by the time he got there. This place has 23 patience and only one staff member knows what shes doing. The place is outdated, dirty and does not need to be open. They said they do physical therapy to their patience. How? when they dont even know what they’re doing. The staff bedside Rachel, are only there for a job, to get paid. Its all about the money and not about the care. Eric, you where outside smoking a cigarette while my brother pretty much stop breathing and looked right at me when he was coming out on the stretcher and did not even bother to ask me or approach me to show any concerns. How could someone like you who worked there for “10” years show no concerns for family member or for your so called patience. I wonder how many others have died or almost died in your care?! You should NOT be working there. Even some of the patience told me “they dont care, take your brother out of here” PLEASE dont send your family member's here at all!!!! This place needs to be closed down. Also dont try to hide what was done by trying to hide paperwork and not send over his records to me when I have all rights to his paperwork and his records. I’m his healthcare proxy. What you think I don't know my rights, you guys thought you came across a family member that does not know the laws and does not know her rights. Well you came across the wrong family member. I will make sure my brothers voice be heard and every other patient that is there.
