Very unproffesional facility. My father-in-law was not allowed to make his own choices and was basically forced to do what the nursing staff instructed. He was told that he was only allowed to have two snacks a day in between meals. The kitchen staff was very rude, and would not accommodate his wishes (within reason) at mealtime, and made him feel as though he was asking for too much. He said that he often could hear staff talking about him negatively, and this made him feel terrible. I could not wait until he was able to leave. Please do not place your family member here, if there is any other options. The facility as a whole is never smelling, nor looking clean, and the janitorial staff was always very irritated with anything asked of them.
We are so lucky to have made such a great choice for the care of our Mom. The entire staff provides such compassionate and professional care for her and all the residents. She has been there almost four years and she loves them, and they love her and treat our entire family like family! In fact, many of the staff have had their own loved ones as residents there. That is a testimony in itself!
Hayward Health Services is not only a place I have been able to call home for the past 2 years, but recently I brought my aunt here for a respite stay to work with therapy and give my uncle a break from caregiving. My aunt could not stop talking about the wonderful staff that were here to help her and others. She also made friends with a few residents which made her feel comfortable in a new environment. My uncle could not believe how much stronger she was from staying here 12 days working with our therapists. He said she looks healthier. He was appreciative of Tess in Social Services for finding information on providers and services where he lives, as they live 4 hours south of Hayward. Her son stated that her skin looked great when he saw her on discharge, since this was not the situation when he saw her prior to admission to HHS. He was impressed by how much better she looked. There will never be enough words to let the team at HHS know how proud I am of them every day, not just with my family but with everyone who has a chance to be taken care of by them. I am so grateful to be one of the leaders in this building!
My family has been vacationing near Hayward for many, many years, with some family members taking up roots from Illinois to settle in Northern WI. We moved my mother to Hayward, WI a couple of years back from Illinois, to stay closer to my brother, and to have her reside at Hayward Health Services. I cannot say enough about the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The atmosphere is small town cozy and my mother is very comfortable and content there. Having my mother there, brings me peace and comfort, especially being so many miles away.
Hayward Health Services provided a home for my mother (Carol) the last 3 years. She was taken care of as part of the staff family. The staff always kept us informed about how she was doing. We know she wasn't always an easy person to work with but you made it work and we really appreciated it, We appreciate the staff that came to the funeral to support the family. Jim & Denise Anderson
