This place cares more about money lining their pockets than patient care…… was told today either pay 8900.00 up front or patent was being given a 30 day notice like to vacate facility. The staff is rude and has attitude towards patient and visitors. Staff does not help families set Their loves ones up for success the communication with this facility sucks and they even leave their patients covered in blood and rashes and fails to address issue until called out on it. Their is so much more.
My mother was to be admitted to The Oaks-Mayview.. We were turned away after being discharged from the hospital and sent on a wild goose chase to another facility. The lady at the reception desk was rude and would not even review the discharge paperwork. I contact the hospital after going to 2 other rehab facilities. I was told to go back to The Oaks-Mayview... So off we go back to Mayview and were told they were expecting us. That's difficult to believe because it was more of the same when we returned.. We were told they normally do not take new admissions on the weekend. The room was not ready, no meds for my mom and the doctor on call doesn't return phone calls. After much confusion.. we were shown to a room at the end of the hall. The room was dark and the bed was not made.. We were told we could move the bed anywhere we wanted in the room... Several ladies came into the room, however everyone quickly left without a word.. I need to say it again, the staff was rude. We couldn't leave our Mom there.. If the behavior we witnessed was any indication of the care provided, we needed to take her home or locate another facility. I would give this facility ZERO stars... but had to choose something to get this posted. My take away is to visit the facility prior to taking a loved one for treatment. We did not have the opportunity to do that. But it was a real learning experience.
Staff not friendly at all! Rude to patients and visitors. Smell is AWFUL. Patient clothes "disappear" and staff admits "they were probably stolen". Staff leaves patients overnight without checking on them despite the call bell being pressed over and over again. They'll say "that button is broken" but the next day the button works fine. Patient left from 5pm to 7am with nobody checking on them and no dinner served. Staff is very rough when handling patients. Filed a complaint that was completely ignored by the administrator at the time Amanda Klobuchar. She claimed she gave it to her replacement Howard. No last name Howard looks and acts more like a patient than an administrator. They say visitors are not allowed due to covid but while delivering more clothes to replace "stolen" clothes the visitor parking lot was full and there were a lot of visitors leaving. If you're looking for a skilled nursing facility and you really love the person needing help keep looking. The Oaks does not live up to the Mayview reputation. UPDATE... You can ignore their reply to my review. I called the number they gave. The number does NOT belong to The Oaks or even the "parent company" Pruitt Health. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!!
My mother is in the Mayview Nursing Home part of the The Oaks at Whitaker Glen. She has been there since late April 2017, and to date I have been very pleased with her care..The staff on her unit are really caring of her, and it is easy to see how difficult their jobs are. All of the staff I have met on the unit appear to have good attitudes toward their tasks. As my mother can no longer manage a cell phone or dial out on a regular phone, the staff call me to talk with her often when she is confused and anxious; they put her on the phone at the nurse's station, and it helps for me to be able to orient her. I usually visit her every other day.
My father, who suffered from dementia, was sent here from UNC after hip replacement surgery. He arrived after the restrictions had gone into place not allowing visitors because of COVID-19. I met his transport outside and was able to talk to him for a few minutes. He was able to speak to me and tell me how he felt. I was appalled at the condition of the building but since the facility had gotten a 4 star rating from Medicare I was hopeful about his rehab. 3 days later I had a scheduled video chat with him and he seemed very agitated but recognized my voice. I called daily and was assured by the staff that he was doing well and his rehab was progressing nicely. A few days later I had another scheduled video chat with him and this time he couldn't even open his eyes when his name was called. They told me they had upped his meds because he had 'slipped' out of bed. I called the next day and asked for a list of the medications he was on. I was horrified when I saw the amount of medications they had my father on. Oxycodone, Trazadone, Ativan and a few more. Up until this point I had not heard a word from his doctor even though I was my Dads health care power of attorney. Once I demanded to know why my father was being kept so doped up, I received almost hourly calls from the doctor. It took me a few days to get everything set up so I could bring my Dad home. I honestly believed at the time that if I could get him off the medications he would have a chance at being able to walk again. Sadly, that was not to be the case. My Dad never regained any semblance of himself and died not long after coming home. This place provided horrible care to my father and hid behind the COVID-19 restrictions to keep anyone from being aware of it. The doctor I dealt with should have his license revoked and I will do everything I can to see that it happens.
