Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Job description involves providing direct patient care and support under the supervision of a nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and eating, taking and recording vital signs, and helping with patient mobility. CNAs also monitor patients' conditions, report changes to the nursing staff, and provide emotional support.
Key duties and responsibilities
Assist with personal care: Help patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Support mobility: Assist with transferring patients between beds and wheelchairs, help them walk, and reposition bed-bound patients to prevent sores.
Record vital signs: Measure and document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
Provide nutrition support: Help serve meals and assist patients who have difficulty eating.
Monitor and report: Observe patients for changes in their condition and report any concerns, issues, or abnormal findings to the nursing staff.
Maintain a clean environment: Keep patient rooms tidy, change bed linens, and stock supplies.
Offer emotional support: Provide companionship and a listening ear to patients.
Assist with medical procedures: Help with basic medical tasks and support nurses and doctors with procedures as needed.
Transport patients: Move patients between different areas of a healthcare facility.
