Very rude to employees so in return they have a high staff turnover. I worked housekeeping part time and my my full time co-worker had less of a work load then me. She only had 14 resident rooms to clean. I had 24 rooms. Plus the stairwells and the auditorium 2 halls two sitting areas 1 on ground floor and one on 1 st. The full-time employee that used to do first floor quit. Why because he was being treated badly and made to do more work than he could handle. Now I have walked out and it’s because I was reprimanded for not being able to keep up. Keep treating people badly karma is getting you!
My family's experience with Smith Nursing Home was nothing short of a nightmare. My mother-in-law, a fall risk, was entrusted to their care, but what unfolded during her stay was a series of distressing incidents that left us deeply disappointed and concerned for her well-being. On no less than three separate occasions, my mother-in-law suffered falls while under the care of Smith Nursing Home. These falls resulted in her sustaining a broken hip and a fractured rib, causing immense physical and emotional pain. It is clear that the nursing home failed to provide the level of supervision and attention required for her condition, despite our repeated concerns about her being a fall risk. To make matters worse, the nursing home administrator consistently spoke to us in a condescending and dismissive manner. They promised that she would receive the best care, but these promises turned out to be empty words. What was even more distressing was the administrator's attempts to cover up the facts and provide alternate versions of the incidents, eroding any trust we may have had in the facility. We were genuinely concerned that our loved one might not survive her time at Smith Nursing Home. The lack of attention to her needs, along with the substandard care, led to an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. It became abundantly clear that Smith Nursing Home was not living up to its commitment to provide quality care and support for its residents. As a final straw, we discovered that attendants frequently ignored residents' calls for assistance, particularly when it came to something as basic as going to the bathroom. This negligence and disregard for residents' fundamental needs only added to the distress and discomfort my mother-in-law experienced during her stay. Thankfully, after the third fall, we decided to move her to another facility where she has thrived. She is now in the best of spirits, well-cared for, and genuinely loved. The contrast in her condition and her happiness since leaving Smith Nursing Home is stark and speaks volumes about the stark difference in the level of care provided. In conclusion, our experience with Smith Nursing Home was nothing short of a nightmare. It was a period of undue stress and anxiety, making an already challenging situation infinitely worse. I strongly advise anyone seeking nursing care for their loved ones to carefully consider their options and think twice before entrusting them to Smith Nursing Home.
My Dad was in Smith Health Care Ltd for several weeks during last summer for physical therapy due to his Alzheimer's condition. He received absolutely the best care possible and the whole staff were fantastic. Mary, who was always very helpful kept me up to date with my Dads progress and made sure he was always looked after and comfortable. Unfortunately, back during the COVID pandemic my Dad got sick and stayed at Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and it almost cost him his life due to their horrible negligence. This was why I made sure this time he went to Smith's instead. Smith, thank you for taking good care of my Dad when he was there.
This facility is horrible. My mother was there for one month and fell 3 times. Both my mother (84) and myself were verbally abused by Mary Beilman. I knew her reputation before I hesitantly placed my mom there because we thought maybe other employees would be great. They were not. They are all miserable and nasty. They are all liars and will lie for the facility. They will tell you they are fully staffed. They are not. While we were there 2 staff members just walked out. The leadership of Donna Strittmatter and her daughters is absolutely horrendous. I have been in healthcare for many years. I have been in every nursing home in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Columbia and Schuylkill counties. Every place has their challenges. I can assure you though, Smith Nursing home is the worst. The staff constantly talk the owners (Donna and Mary) about them behind their backs. They are all so miserable. They will try to come across as holier than thought and make you feel you are wrong. Please do not take any loved ones to this facility. Ask around to others that have had similar experiences. The healthcare environment in our area all know of Mary Beilman’s reputation and it is not good! She is evil. My mom had been in a new facility for 2.5 months and is safe and happy.
Absolutely the BEST!!! I cannot adequately express my appreciation and gratitude for the amazing staff and owners. They treat my mother like family and are always cognizant of any healthcare issues or concerns that may develop. My mother laughs and is so calm and relaxed at Smith. The level of caring and kindness is unsurpassed. I cannot thank the Smith team enough for all they do to make my mothers feel like she has value. Also the medical care is excellent and the doctor is kind and caring. The team is the BEST!!
