DO NOT take a family member here . They have, cow bells for call lights ( their excuse when questioned was , temporarily using cowbells to repair call lights.) Not true. Owner is too cheap to update as well as the 1950’s crank style beds with NO railing. Bedside tables aren’t cleaned & have caked on food running down the legs. The walls are filthy. No trash liners for in room trash basket . Staff doesn’t remove gloves when leaving room. Concerns are listened to by admins & nurses but nothing is improved. Diet orders aren’t correct. They’ll give a patient who’s on puréed diet , a handful of cheese puffs & let them eat alone. If you’re family member needs turning every two hours you better be there to do it to prevent skin breakdown . Staff will leave them soaked in urine, etc until they get ready to turn which was 6 hours. 1 CNA per 25 patients will definitely leave many patients w/o. care . This place is owned by a very wealthy individual who is there to make his money off the backs of our elderly people and consume every penny from insurance companies while giving the most inadequate care possible. Please don’t make the same mistake we did by admitting our family member there . The nursing staff and therapy workers are nice helpful but are only allowed to do what their money hungry owner allows. The only star I gave was for the underpaid staff.
This facility is terrible! When you call the facility and talk to nurses they have very little information about your family member. My Mother expressed that she just gets pushed out by the nurses station to just sit for the half the day. We stopped by for an unannounced visit and was able to see my Mother completely naked from the hallway. If moving her was in our capability we would but, unfortunately the facility does not abide by POA either so our hands are tied. Perfect strangers are able to call the facility and be given explicit information about any patient there all they need is the patient name and they will tell you anything in the chart. When I visited even though I am one of her POA's I was not allowed to see her record and had to argue to get specific information about my Mother's care with my Mother right with me telling them to show me.
There is a resident phone but. Good luck talking to your resident. We have waiting on hold numerous times for 30 to 40 minutes at a time. When we asked the nursing staff about it the response was "not surprising" The staff can be well aware if a family member acting inappropriately where care is concerned but, won't deal with it. They just pass off a member of residents families behavior as "nothing they can do anything about" My Mother has gotten much sicker since being in their care at a rapid pace and let a family member pursue getting her falsely diagnosed so they can have control of her assets. The social service lady is EXTREMELY rude and non caring. She has residents sign paperwork they do not understand. Ridiculous lack luster care!
My mother has been at Cedargate for over 10 years, they make sure she is well taken care of and keep me informed.
Cedargate Healthcare has some of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. Stop by and have a look around for yourself!!!
